Diana Crișan
Dermatologist
PD Dr Diana Crișan is Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the Department of Dermatology and Allergology, University Hospital Ulm, Germany, where she contributes to both the clinical and scientific activities of the Skin Cancer Centre. Her work spans dermatologic surgery, oncodermatology and advanced diagnostic dermatology, with a particular focus on integrating imaging technologies into clinical decision making. She is also a DEGUM – certified physician in dermatologic ultrasound.
Her research centers on high frequency ultrasound in dermatology, encompassing both in vivo and ex vivo applications. She was involved in projects investigating ex vivo ultrasound for surgical margin assessment and tumor characterization in skin cancer, supporting the development of image assisted workflows aimed at increasing precision in oncologic surgery and reducing the number of surgical stages in Mohs or micrographically controlled procedures. This work reflects her broader interest in non-invasive and minimally invasive diagnostic strategies that enhance accuracy in skin cancer management.
Dr. Crișan has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in dermatology, covering topics such as cutaneous oncology, dermatosurgery, and diagnostic imaging. In addition to her research activities, she is actively involved in dermatologic ultrasound education, teaching dermatology residents and medical students with a focus on diagnostic reasoning, dermato-oncology, and imaging based assessment. She also serves as a speaker and trainer in numerous dermatologic ultrasound courses and hands-on workshops. Her academic profile combines clinical expertise, scientific engagement, and a growing specialization in ultrasound-based dermatologic diagnostics, positioning her as an emerging contributor to the advancement of modern dermatologic imaging.
