Alexander Loizides is Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Endovascular and Interventional Radiology at the University Hospital of Innsbruck, Austria. His extended scientific, teaching, and publishing work are internationally recognized and range from interventional radiology and musculoskeletal–peripheral nerve ultrasound to abdominal ultrasound, for which he holds the highest certification (Level III) from the European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB).

He has been repeatedly awarded for his scientific work by the Austrian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ÖGUM-Förderpreis 2011), the Austrian Radiological Society (Robert-Kienböck Prize 2012), as well as the Trinational Scientific Symposium of German-speaking Countries (Dreiländertreffen Salzburg 2009 – Certificate of Merit). He is the author of educational books on musculoskeletal and peripheral nerve ultrasound (Nervensonographie kompakt: Anatomy of the Peripheral Nerves with Landmarks, Sonographic Peripheral Nerve Topography: A Landmark-based Algorithm), as well as numerous original scientific articles indexed in the PubMed database.
